COLUMBUS

Nick Gentile ran for three touchdowns, including a 2-yarder that gave Columbus DeSales a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter, as the Stallions beat Cardinal Mooney 41-31 on Friday in a rematch of last year’s Division III state championship game.

Evan Kendrick added two TDs for DeSales (3-1), which lost last year’s finale 35-7. Anthony Ciammaichella added two field goals.

For Mooney, Charlie Brown had two touchdown runs and Kevin McGuire tossed a pair of TD passes in his first game back from an ankle injury he suffered in the opener. Marcus McWilson and Ryan Farragher caught the touchdown passes and A.J. Fox had a 47-yard field goal.

Warren JFK 20, Jefferson 14

JEFFERSON

Carl Broadbent scored two touchdowns as the Eagles won for the first time. Broadbent had a 5-yard scoring run and caught an 18-yard pass from Dominic Naples for a touchdown.

Zack Nicholas scored on a 1-yard run for Warren JFK’s (1-3) other score.

Scott Davidson scored on a 49-yard run for Jefferson.

Grand Valley 28, Mathews 7

VIENNA

A.J. Henson passed for three touchdowns and ran for another for Grand Valley (4-0, 1-0 East Suburban Conference). Mitchell Lake caught 10- and 11-yard touchdowns.

For Mathews (2-2, 0-1), Tyler Hunt hit Jeff Smith for a 5-yard touchdown.

Carrollton 28, West Branch 20

CARROLLTON

John Lowdermilk scored on a 42-yard run with 1:16 left to help Carrollton break away for a Northeastern Buckeye Conference victory.

West Branch’s Brenden Wells had tied the game just 18 seconds earlier on a 4-yard TD run, followed by a conversion pass from Troy James to Taylor Pidgeon. Wells carried nine times for 89 yards and two TDs, both in the second half. James was 10 of 14 for 91 yards and an interception and also had 91 yards on 17 carries for the Warriors (1-3, 0-1).

Lowdermilk completed 10 of 14 passes for 175 yards and an interception for Carrollton (3-1, 1-0) and also had 128 yards rushing on 17 carries with three TDs.

Southeast 28, Akron Springfield 7

RAVENNA

Sean Stone rushed for 153 yards on 27 carries and scored three touchdowns for the Pirates (3-1, 1-0 Portage Trail Conference Metro Division).

Stone’s scoring runs covered 5, 2 and 7 yards. Garrett LaVigna caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from Damian Pennington.

Noah Kainrad completed eight of 15 passes for 98 yards. Tyler Brokaw caught four of them for 69 yards.

Dillon Matthews scored the Springfield (1-3, 0-1) touchdown on a 20-yard run.

Ursuline 33, Bedford 15
