Warriors shut out Mathews; East falls to CCC

BROOKFIELD
Jeremy Quinlan threw for one touchdown and returned an interception 56 yards to lead the Brookfield High football team past Mathews 23-0 on Friday.
Quinlan threw for 66 yards and Denny Sulick had 79 yards rushing for the Warriors (4-3), who held Mathews to 27 yards rushing. Joe Clark caught a touchdown pass and Joe Kirila ran for one.
Tony Hunt led Mathews (4-3) with 96 yards passing.

The Crusaders limited East to 156 yards of total offense. The Panthers (2-5) gained half of those yards on one big play — a 78-yard touchdown pass from Rayfield Bell to Michael Thomas, that gave them a 7-3 lead early in the third quarter.
After an East safety, Central’s Devin Green then turned the ensuing free kick into a 63-yard return for a TD. Once quarterback Drew Paulik ran in the two-point conversion, the Crusaders held a 13-7 lead heading into the fourth.
Central rushed for 148 yards. Mark Goodnight’s 2-yard TD run capped the scoring.
Green led the Crusaders on the ground with 71 yards on 12 carries. AJ Battista added 47 yards on 12 attempts.
Canton South 50, West Branch 33

Jared May completed 42 of 73 passes for 560 yards and threw seven TD for Canton South. The Wildcats finished the game with 559 total offensive yards.
Justin Lynch caught 11 passes for 248 yards and one touchdown, while Chantler Jenkins caught 12 passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns for South (2-5). Eric Thompkins added two touchdowns on 6 receptions and 93 yards, while Troy Sheridan scored once on 6 catches for 66 yards.
Leading West Branch was running back Brenden Wells who scored on the first play of the game. Wells finished with 17 carries for 147 yards for the Warriors (1-6). Jake Mull and Bo Utley each ran for a TD, while Luke Butcher scored on a 22-yard pass from Mull.
Southeast 35, Coventry 7
AKRON
Sean Stone scored three touchdowns and rushed for 65 yards on 13 carries for the Pirates (4-3, 2-2 Portage Trail Conference Metro Division).
Damian Pennington scored the other two touchdowns and rushed for 44 yards on eight carries. Quarterback Noah Kainrad completed four of 10 passes for 66 yards.
East Liverpool 30, Chaney 22
EAST Liverpool
Willie Levell scored twice to lead the Potters to victory. Levell scored East Liverpool’s (6-1) first touchdown on a 89-yard fumble recovery, and later scored from 3 yards out to give the Potters a 14-6 lead at the half.
Chaney’s Marky Thompkins went 7 of 13 for 130 yards, while Robert Thompkins went 6 of 12 for 132 yards and a TD for the Cowboys. George LeFlore scored twice for Chaney (1-6).
Ledgmont 69, Southington 8

Details were not reported. Southington is 0-7 and 0-3 in the East Suburban Conference. Ledgemont is 7-0, 4-0.
Beaver 37, Mohawk 7
Beaver, Pa.
Darian Bradley rushed 8 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns to lead Beaver (6-0). Bradley scored both TDs in the second quarter, one on a 28 yard run and the other on a 55-yard run.
