Salem, East Liverpool fall in playoffs

The Quakers gave up 20 points in the second quarter of a 41-13 loss to Thornville Sheridan in a Div. III playoff game Saturday night to end their season.

Senior quarterback Trent Toothman had 114 rushing yards and 136 passing yards for the Quakers (8-3). He had touchdown passes of eight and 41 yards. The first scoring pass went to sophomore wide receiver Marcus Crittenden, and the second went to senior Zach Penick,.

The Quakers were outgained on the ground 145 to 326 by Sheridan.

Newark Licking valley 29, E. Liverpool 3

EAST LIVERPOOL

Licking Valley outgained East Liverpool 337-148 in a Division II, Region 11 quarterfinal at Patterson Field.

Drew McArtor rushed for 218 yards on 32 carries and scored two touchdowns for Licking Valley (9-2), which advanced to play Marlington in next weekend.

The Potters’ only points came on a 21-yard field goal midway through the second period.
