At flower show, Ikebana displays Japanese designs


YOUNGSTOWN — Ikebana Youngstown exhibited Japanese floral designs on June 6 and 7, during its flower show at the D.D. and Velma Davis Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Ikebana Youngstown, founded in 1963, belongs to the Garden Forum of Greater Youngstown Area, Inc. Members meet on the first Tuesday of most months at the Davis Center.

The flower show contained 35 exhibits, in which each entry was placed in front of a Shoji screen. The flower arrangements were from four schools: Ikenobo, O’hara, Sogetsu and Ishiyo.

The Ikebana officers are Dianna Mullins, president; Pearl Marlos, vice president; Esther Bertch, secretary; and Beverly Patrick, treasurer.

The following made designs for viewing: Bertch, Sheila Bowman, Karen Cabroja, Susie Cochran, Elsie DeHoff, Dorothy Haddox, Nancy Kovach, Marlos, Mullins, Patrick, Colleen Smith, Dolly Vivalo, and Linda Vuletich.
