Senior running back J.T. Turner rushed for 209 yards and two TDs in a 30-7 win.

WARREN — The Warren Harding High football team had no answer for Massillon running back J.T. Turner.

The senior ran through the Raider defense for 209 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-7 triumph Saturday night at Mollenkopf Stadium.

Turner gained his 209 yards on 19 carries, 11 of which went for seven yards or more.

The Tigers (5-3) ended up with 242 yards on the ground, and quarterback Robert Partridge added 138 yards through the air.

Harding (4-4) netted 48 yards on the ground, and quarterback Aunre Davis passed for 154 yards.

Massillon opened the scoring with a 30-yard field goal by Jeremy Geier with 7:13 remaining in period one. The Tigers drove from their 28 to the Raider 11 before the drive stalled.

After a three-and-out, Harding punted. Massillon’s Bo Grunder let the ball hit and roll, then scooped it up as several Raiders waited to down the ball.

Grunder managed to get to the sideline, then cut back and ran 70 yards for a touchdown with 4:43 left in the quarter.

Midway through the second quarter, Massillon put together an eight-play, 76-yard scoring drive which was aided by a pass interference call against the Raiders. Partridge ended the drive with an 8-yard scoring run with 6:02 left in the half.

Harding’s defense stiffened at that point, but the Raiders couldn’t get much going on offense until the fourth quarter.

A 13-play scoring drive for the Raiders covered 81 yards and took two minutes of the third quarter and the first 4:30 of the final quarter. Davis connected with Sergio Allen from 25 yards out for Harding’s only touchdown.

Big plays on the drive included a 20-yard pass from Davis to D’Aver Williamson, and an 18-yard run by Mike Dorsey on third-and-11.

The Harding score seemed to wake up the Massillon offense, however. Three plays after the TD, Partridge hit Grunder on a 58-yard pass to set up the Tigers at the Harding 2. Turner scored from there on the next play.

Following a Harding possession, Turner scored again the next time he touched the ball, racing 38 yards for the final score.

Turner also had three receptions for 57 yards and returned an interception 64 yards.

Williamson caught seven passes for 66 yards for Harding. Davis completed 14 passes of his 30 attempts.
