ITCL: South Range beats United; Columbiana beats Lisbon; Crestview beats Mineral Ridge; East Palestine beats Springfield


HANOVERTON — Hunter Spitz scored touchdowns on runs of 17, 59 and 11 yards to spark South Range past United, 38-21, Friday night in an Inter Tri-County League Tier One game.

Spitz rushed for 138 yards in 15 carries.

The score was tied at 21-21 at the half before the Raiders (6-2, 4-1 Inter Tri-County League Tier One) reeled off 17 points in the second half to take control.

Ethan Witmer kicked a 20-yard field goal in the third quarter to lift South Range into a 24-21 lead before Spitz tallied on a 59-yard run.

Spitz added his 11-yard TD dash for insurance in the last quarter.

Nick Golec also scored twice for the Raiders on runs of 1-yard and 81 yards. Golec finished with 114 yards rushing in 11 carries.

Josh McLaughlin led United (4-4, 2-3 ITCL Tier One) by throwing two TD passes to Zack Taylor (13 yards) and Mike McLaughlin (6 yards), and also racing 2 yards to another score.

Josh McLaughlin was 16-for-28 passing for 274 yards, while Mike McLaughlin caught six passes for 78 yards and Taylor four for 58 yards.

Columbiana 57, Lisbon 6

LISBON — Brian Warchol scored four touchdowns on runs of 14, 30, 12 and 19 yards and finished with 158 yards rushing in 13 carries to lead Columbiana (6-1, 4-1 ITCL1).

Josh Harold returned a kickoff 93 yards to a TD and also kicked a 50-yard field goal for the Clippers. Nick Roncone and Jeff Davidson tallied on runs of 36 and 23 yards, respectively.

Roncone contributed 46 yards rushing in three carries.

Lisbon’s (0-8, 0-5) score came on Matt Metzgar’s 78-yard pass to Alec Thomas.

Crestview 35, Mineral Ridge 0

MINERAL RIDGE — Corey Hill scored five touchdowns.

Hill, who finished with 223 yards on 24 carries, broke the school rushing record for yards in a single season with 1,507. The previous record was 1,503.

Hill scored on runs of 55, 7, 12 and 15 yards. He also had a reception for 12 yards.

Gary Cervone intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter and returned it 26 yards.

Running back Kyle Skiba led the rushing attack for the Rams. Skiba had 80 yards on 19 carries. Quarterback Jesse Garland went 7-16 for 107 yards and three interceptions.

East Palestine 27, Springfield 14

EAST PALESTINE — Shane Peterson accounted for 260 total yards and all four touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs.

Peterson threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Austin Cope to tie the score 7-7 in the second quarter.

With about a minute remaining in the first half, Peterson ran for a 70-yard touchdown that gave East Palestine (3-5, 3-2 ITCL1) a 13-7 lead.

In the fourth quarter, he ran in from 7 and 60 yards. Peterson rushed 20 times for 208 yards and completed 6-of-10 passes for 52 yards.

Travis Richey led Springfield (4-4, 1-4) with 105 yards rushing a touchdown. ,Matt Evans completed 16-of-30 passes for 179 yards; his 14-yard scoring toss to Eric Lipp gave the Tigers a 14-13 lead at halftime.

Wellsville 29, Lowellville 0

WELLSVILLE — The Tigers (5-2, 3-2 ITCL2) scored all their points in the first half as Jeremy Carter scored on a 15-yard run and he connected with Marcus Mick on a 39-yard TD strike. Bubba Dowling tallied on a 1-yard run with 19 seconds remaining in the first quarter and Chad

Elliott caught a 14-yard TD pass from Matt Dalrymple with 19 seconds left in the second quarter.

The Rockets (2-5) were led by Kyle Gump who rushed for 61 yards on four carries.

Jackson-Milton 28, Sebring 13
