Chaney at Warren Harding

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Mollenkopf Stadium, Warren

Scouting report: The Cowboys played well despite losing to Fitch, 35-14, in the West Side War last Friday. Warren Harding, meanwhile, went to Shaker Heights and opened its season with a 24-9 victory. Mike Dorsey led the Raiders with 120 yards rushing on just 10 carries, and he scored two touchdowns, including one from 55 yards. Chaney gave up some big plays to Fitch and will have to control that Friday night. The Cowboys did rush for 163 yards last weekend, with Myke Parker getting 115.

Youngstown Christian vs. Springfield

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: Cardinal Stadium, Canfield

Scouting report: This one has a lot of intrigue. Are the Tigers as good as they looked in a 24-7 win over Struthers last week? Can YCS quarterback Matt Pecchia put up big numbers again (240 yards, 3 TDs vs. McDonald)? Springfield QB Matt Evans wasn’t too shabby, either, going 7-for-11 for 90 yards. The Eagles are going to want to shore up their run defense, which was shredded for 301 yards last week.

Beaver Local vs. West Branch

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: Clinton Heacock Stadium, Beloit

Scouting report: These two solid programs have a nice little rivalry going, except the Warriors have a 21-2-2 lead. The last three games have been far more competitive, though, with West Branch winning in two overtimes in 2006, sandwiched by 22- and 14-point victories on the road. Last week the Beavers rushed for 358 yards in a 29-22 win over East Liverpool, while the Warriors passed for 279 in a 48-6 win over Southeast.

Lakeview vs. Campbell

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: John Knapick Field, Campbell

Scouting report: The Bulldogs pasted Painesville Harvey, 34-20, rushing for 243 yards and passing for 148. The Red Devils ventured to Toronto and scored a touchdown in every quarter for a 28-14 victory. Sophomore QB Lester Hughes passed for 100 yards for Campbell. For Lakeview, Ben Moody rushed for 123 yards and QB Justin Clark threw for 148.
