Ocheltree tallies five TDs for Mathews in 37-17 win


CANFIELD — Eric Ocheltree scored five times to lead the Mathews High football team past Youngstown Christian, 37-17, Friday at Canfield Stadium.

After Eddie Gonda’s 30-yard field goal put Youngstown Christian ahead, 3-0, Eric Ocheltree scored five times and Jake Klinger made a 20-yard field goal and four PATs for the Mustangs (4-0).

Ocheltree carried 23 times for 121 yards, while teammate Brad Hughes added 107 yards.

Mathews had a 17-3 lead cut to 17-10, before going back up 31-10.

Senior quarterback Randy Triplett completed nine for 19 passes for 233 yards for Youngstown Christian (1-2).

Tolu Oshonowo scored from 5 yards out on a Triplett pass and Gonda caught a 72-yard TD aerial. Gonda, a senior, finished with four catches for 177 yards. Triplett also had two passes intercepted.

Neshannock 12

Bessemer, Pa. — D.J. Woleslagle rushed 20 times for 166 yards, which included a 46-yard TD and he ran over three two-point conversions, leading Mohawk in a WPIAL Section 4 AA game Friday.

The Warriors (3-0) jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter and Neshannock (1-2) couldn’t recover.

Travis Schubert scored on a 17-yard run and Chase Frederick caught a 19-yard TD pass from Seth Powell for that early lead.

Quarterback Josh Brown of Neshannock connected on 4 of 10 pass for 57 yards and he rushed 15 times for 113 yards. He scored on a 33-yard run.
