Hertel’s 154 yards pace Columbiana
Josh Selway scored twice in Leetonia’s win over Southern.
COLUMBIANA — Josh Hertel rushed for 154 yards on 13 carries Friday to lead the Columbiana High football team to a 15-6 triumph over United.
One of Hertel’s carries came in the first quarter when he rambled 86 yards for a touchdown.
Tyler Bejong caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Williams and Josh Harrold booted a 25-yard field goal for the Clippers (3-1, 1-0 Inter Tri-County League Tier One).
For the Eagles (2-2, 0-1), Brandon Ellyson caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Phillis.
Phillis completed 9 of 20 passes for 83 yards.

Jackson-Milton 6
NORTH JACKSON — Alex Sampson rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns for the Blue Devils (3-1, 1-0 ITCL Tier Two).
Sampson tallied on runs of 5, 12 and 12 yards. Kirk Manofsky caught a 21-yard pass from Matt Krumpak for McDonald’s other score.
Krumpak passed for 87 yards by completing seven of 20 tosses. He was intercepted three times. Manofsky caught three passes for 43 yards.
For the Bluejays (0-4, 0-1), Jeff Balent scored on a 7-yard run and caught five passes from Ben Carlile for 44 yards.
Carlile completed eight of 24 passes for 82 yards and was picked off three times.
Lowellville 44, Sebring 0
SEBRING — Cody Whinery and Jimmy Sudon each scored two touchdowns and Sudon also had two interceptions to lead Lowellville (2-2), in an ITCL Tier Two opener.
Whinery scored on runs of 5 and 10 yards and rushed for 122 yards in 14 carries, while Sudon tallied on a 61-yard run and on a 1-yard pass from David Minnie. Sudon also caught three passes for 41 yards.
Vince Travaline contributed 107 yards in 15 carries to aid Lowellville, while Minnie was 6-for-11 passing for 80 yards and one interception.
Three other Rockets scored — John Lyras on a 23-yard run, Joe DePasquale on a 5-yard dash and Mike Basista on a 10-yard scamper.
Sebring (1-3) was held to 66 total yards, including 58 rushing in 30 attempts.
Leetonia 34, Southern 7
SALINEVILLE — Josh Selway ran for two touchdowns and passed for a third as Leetonia opened ITCL Tier Two play with a rout of Southern.
The Bears (2-2, 1-0) scored 34 unanswered points before allowing Southern (0-4, 0-1) a fourth quarter score.
Selway scored an runs of 24 and 13 yards and connected with Jake Kruegal on a 37-yard touchdown pass. Jamie Milsom scored on a 1-yard run and Andrew Trummer recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for the other score.
Southern’s touchdown came on a five-yard run by Nathan Melhorn.
