Liberty rolls, 41-3; West Branch wins


Struthers lost to Marlington while East Liverpool was shut out by Steubenville.

LIBERTY — Liberty junior Fitzgerald Toussaint rushed 14 times for 188 yards and three touchdowns to help the Leopards improve to 3-0 with a 41-3 win over Campbell on Friday.

After an opening field goal by the Red Devils, Liberty scored 28 first-half points to take control.

Ryan Pennington added 62 yards on two carries and a touchdown. Ira Cross had 84 yards on 11 carries for Liberty, which gained 347 yards on the ground.

John Turner led Campbell (0-3) with 55 yards on 16 carries.

West Branch 35,
Salem 16

SALEM — Quarterback Steve McNeely accounted for four touchdowns, two by passing and two by running, to power West Branch (3-0).

McNeely ran for TDs covering 10 and 6 yards and also fired TD passes to Jeremiah James (16 yards) and to Chad Butcher (65 yards).

McNeely accounted for 289 yards passing and rushing combined. He completed 10-of-14 passes for 143 yards, and ran for 126 yards in 16 tries.

Zac O’Brien led Salem (0-3), throwing for one TD of 18 yards to Ben Eisel and plunging 1 yard to another TD. O’Brien completed 20 of 32 passes for 192 yards.

Marlington 26,
Struthers 6

MARLINGTON — Rob Edwards’ 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was a rare highlight for Struthers (1-2), which had three turnovers and was outgained 296-189.

A.J. Burt had three touchdown passes — all to Allen Strouble — and added another on the ground for Marlington (3-0).
