Ursuline blanks East Liverpool; Harding cruises


YOUNGSTOWN — For the second straight week, the Ursuline High football team posted a big shutout victory.

Friday at Stambaugh Stadium, Irish quarterback Lamar McQueen scored an 18-yard rushing touchdown and hit Dale Peterman for a 33-yard score in a 56-0 triumph.

McQueen completed six of nine tosses for 91 yards.

The Irish rushed 27 times for 327 yards, with Darrell Mason gained 114 on 12 tries. One of Mason’s runs was a 5-yard touchdown.

Also scoring for the Irish were Nick McGahagan (26 yards), Dwight Wright (1 yard), Allen Jones (10 yards), Dan Turner (12 yards) and Jeff Podolsky (42 yards).

Defensively, the Irish (2-0) limited the Potters (0-2) to 9 yards rushing on 31 carries. Ryan Kelly recovered a fumble while Justin Brown had a sack of quarterback Willie Leavell for a 13-yard loss.

WARREN — Aunre Davis scored three touchdowns and Mike Dorsey ran for 72 yards and a TD to lead Harding (1-1), which rolled to a 40-6 lead midway through the third quarter.

Frank Smith and Desmond Reed added touchdowns for the Raiders, while Paris Bruner had an interception.

Kenny Eansore ran for 87 yards and scored twice for Aquinas (0-1).
