Struthers’ Myers key TD scorer in victory
Canfield blasted Salem, 70-21.
STRUTHERS — All the points in the game were scored during the first half, but Terrance Myers’ 1-yard touchdown gave Struthers High a 21-14 victory over East Liverpool in a Metro Athletic Conference game Friday night.
The Potters (0-8, 0-5) got on the scoreboard in the first quarter when Brandon Edison raced 28 yards for a TD.
The Wildcats quickly answered as John Balogh caught a 12-yard TD pass from Tony Valliquette and Balogh made a placekick for the extra point for a 7-6 lead
In the second quarter, Anthony Yager of Struthers, who rushed for 157 yards on 23 carries, scored on a 7-yard run and Balogh’s placekick made it 14-6.
East Liverpool’s Preston Foster caught a 10-yard pass from Willie Leavell and Danny Ours ran over a two-point conversion to tie the score 14-14.
The Potters rushed 43 times for 229 yards and they picked up 10 passing. The Wildcats gained 199 rushing and 36 passing.

Salem 21
CANFIELD — Dan Banna, Pat Fening and Christian Smith scored twice for Canfield, which rolled up 430 yards on the ground by virtue of 46 plays.
Mark Carrocce, Adam Muth and Andrew McClusky each added a TD for the Cardinals, who piled up 42 first-quarter points. Carrocce scored on a 55-yard punt return. Smith finished with 91 yards on 10 carries.
Pat Sankovic had six extra-point conversion kicks for the Cardinals (7-1, 4-1 MAC).
Gino Pasquinelli scored twice for the Quakers (1-7, 1-4) on passes from Zach O’Brien, who finished by throwing for 102 yards. However, O’Brien was intercepted twice.
