Toussaint scores 5 TDs for Liberty


West Branch and Beaver Local also enjoyed big victories.

SALEM — Fitzgerald Toussaint scored five touchdowns Friday to lead the Liberty High football team to a 40-13 win over Salem.

Toussaint’s scoring runs covered 66, 56, 45, 23 and 10 yards. He finished with 261 yards rushing on 12 carries.

Salem quarterback Zac O’Brien completed 10-of-19 passes for 112 yards.

West Branch 48,
Southeast 0

RAVENNA — Quarterback Steve McNeely completed 19-of-28 passes for 344 yards and six touchdowns in leading West Branch to its victory.

Jase Uyselt caught three passes for 112 yards, which included TDs of 54, 19 and 39 yards.

The Warriors limited the Pirates to 70 rushing and 70 passing yards.

Beaver Local 47,
East Liverpool 8

LISBON — The Beaver pulled away with a 26-0 surge in the second quarter for a 40-0 halftime lead.

Six different players scored touchdowns for the Beavers, with Ben Adkins caught a 22-yard TD strike from Shawn Mercer and ran 10 yards for another TD.

Devon Ludwig, who rushed for 160 yards on 10 carries, scored on a 71 yard run for the Beavers.

Malvern 29,
Columbiana 22

COLUMBIANA — David Alexander scored on a 14-yard run with just under seven minutes remaining to break a 22-22 tie and lift Malvern to a non-league victory.

Alexander’s score, which came less than a minute after the Clippers tied the game, was set up by a 64-yard pass from Hornet quarterback Tyler Tucci to Zack Kapron.

Columbiana drove to Malvern’s 43 in the closing minutes but turned the ball over on downs. The Clippers, who outgained Malvern 196-52 on the ground, couldn’t overcome three turnovers.

Ryan Williams led Columbiana with 101 yards on 19 carries, while Josh Hurdle added 79 on 15 carries.

Wellsville 51,
Strasburg 6

WELLSVILLE — Jeff Hanselman scored touchdowns of 21, 79, 43 and 5 yards to lead the Tigers. He finished with 211 yards on 14 carries.

Jeremy Carter returned a punt 67 yards for another score.

East Palestine 21,
Southern 14
