Burgers and football go pretty good together.

So I'm lumping these two below items together for your FYI.

• We're proud of our football legacy in the Valley. ESPN did a pretty good job last weekend showcasing the volume of top level coaches in college football who trace their X's and O's back to the Valley.

This has been passed around the Valley a few times this week, but if you missed it, here's http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5882832&categoryid=2378529">the link to the ESPN piece.

• Awhile back, I did a feature on the Mahoning Valley Burger Review Board. They're a bunch of local guys -- all post office co-workers -- who've decided to celebrate the best burgers in the Valley. They've been on a quest and have built up quite a franchise with their effort. Read my story here, and go visit their http://www.myspace.com/mvbrb">website here.

Well, this Saturday at 7 p.m., they will crown their 2010 Burger of the Year recipient — Martini Brothers Bar & Grille.
The MVBRB, in their second year of reviewing burgers, has chosen them from a field of 16 establishments that they have visited this year. They join last year's winner, O'Donold's Irish Pub and Grille.

Finishing second and third this year are Cleats Club Seat Grille, Warren, and Station Square Ristorante Grill and Lounge, Liberty.

Martini Brothers, which recently moved from the Golf Dome in Girard to 36 Youngstown-Warren Road in Niles, will be hosting a "Burger Bash," including some great specials, to celebrate the occasion.
