We recently had to revamp our weekly TV book, "TV Week."
The changes were prompted by the tough economy we’re facing, and the need to save dollars and keep the paper affordable.
We reduced channel listings and other offerings, which ultimately upset many folks.
In listening to the many, many (and many) callers and reading the many, many (and many) e-mails, we revisited some of the changes and made adjustments.
Reappearing tomorrow will be the overall channel listings on Page 2 and the return of ABC Family, Hallmark, HBO and Showtime listings.
To get those channels back in, we eliminated listings for four Cleveland-based channels — WKYC (NBC), WEWS (ABC), WJW (Fox) and WOIO (CBS). These are broadcast channels that largely are available only to our Trumbull County subscribers.
The content for these channels can be found on the other ABC, NBC and CBS listings.
We appreciate the volume of feedback we received. It shows a lot of loyalty to the TV book.
But it is a fickle product for us. It costs us a lot to produce a guide that has been largely replaced by on-screen digital listings.
Plus, it is hard to generate advertiser interest these days in a TV booklet — even if we told them many, many (and many) people called us to express concerns about the changes.
