Right about now, hundreds upon hundreds of letters to President Obama are in the Washington, D.C. office of U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan. The letters will eventually make their way over to the White House courtesy of Ryan's office.
The letters are from students from across the Valley. Many of the letters graced our pages during our "Four Days in History" inauguration coverage last week.
How many letters did we get overall? Too many to count. But here's a list of the schools that inundated us with students' heart-felt views:
Austintown Middle School
Campbell Memorial High School
Canfield High School
Chaney High School
Choffin High School
Cortland Elementary School
Glenwood Middle School
Harding Elementary School
Leetonia Exempted Schools
Immaculate Heart of Mary School
Neshannock Elementary School
P. Ross Berry Middle
Robinwood Lane School
Struthers Middle School
Summit Academy Secondary
United Local Schools
Guy Middle School
Western Reserve Middle School
Williamson Elementary School
Youngstown Community School
In addition to these schools writing letters to President Obama, many of them took part in having extra papers delivered to their classroom – 5,015 extra papers total on each of our "Four Days in History" series.
That number is on top of the 2,000-plus newspapers regularly delivered to area schools as part of our Newspapers in Education program.
Thank you to the schools and the teachers for letting The Vindicator be part of your teaching of that instant history lesson last week.
