We'd like your help in trying to spread some holiday cheer to Valley natives serving in the current military conflicts.

Operation Holiday Cheer aims to publish photos and addresses of military personnel, and then encourage local people or groups to create cards and packages to send to them.

But we need your help on two fronts.

First, we would like to publish photos and addresses of the people serving. So if you have family or friends serving, and you'd like to add to their holiday season, please contact us with their mailing info.

Second, if we're able to obtain the addresses and photos, when that information is published in The Vindicator, we need you to send them some cheer.

More information is below:

SENDING GREETINGS TO OUR TROOPS

With the upcoming holidays comes the perfect opportunity to reach out across the many miles that separate the men and women serving in the U.S. armed forces from their families and friends.

If your son, daughter, wife, husband, brother or sister is serving in the military and won’t be home for the holidays, send us their name, rank and full military mailing address. Include a photo if you’d like, and be sure to note the person’s connection to the area.

The Vindicator will publish that information on Sunday, Nov. 16, to give readers the chance to share their holiday cheer with our servicemen and women by sending a card, letter or package to express appreciation for our soldiers’ sacrifices.

To submit your information:
• Mail it to: Operation: Holiday Cheer,
The Vindicator, Attn. Barb Shaffer, P.O.
Box 780, Youngstown, OH 44501.
• E-mail it to shaffer@vindy.com, including
Operation Holiday Cheer in the subject
line.
• Fax it to (330) 747-6712.
• Drop it off at The Vindicator business
office at 107 Vindicator Square,
Youngstown. Business hours are 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The deadline is Nov. 13.
