We made the front page of CNN today on our mortgage/foreclosure/shrinking city issue. Read the http://money.cnn.com/2008/04/08/real_estate/radical_city_plan/index.htm?cnn=yes" target="_blank">story here.
That was moderately interesting on the heels of other national media showing interest in our challenges in recent years.
We then picked up news of two public officials in trouble. You can see the one item on Leo Jennings, top aide to AG Marc Dann, in our NewsWatch section. We'll follow that today and this week. There will no doubt be more to come.
We also have a law enforcement official being linked to a drug investigation. That should go online in a matter of minutes this Monday afternoon.

And if you want a break from all that type of news, I got word today that the Angels for Easter Seals event pulled in $35K at last Thursday's event.

And in prep for tomorrow's tax day, those marketing studs at Dunkin Donuts are offering free donuts to everyone one Tuesday. Seriously. (You have to buy a coffee.)

The company is billing it as a away to make Tuesday a less taxing day for customers -- something to sweeten up the day. Here's what they say:

DUNKIN’ DONUTS MAKES TAX DAY A LITTLE SWEETER WITH FREE DONUTS

CANTON, Mass. (April 14, 2008) -- This year, Dunkin’ Donuts, the world’s largest coffee and baked goods chain, wishes its customers a less taxing Tax Day by offering all customers a free donut with the purchase of any size cup of Dunkin’ Donuts’ hot coffee. On April 15, customers, regardless of whether they owe taxes or are entitled to a refund, can stop by any participating Dunkin’ Donuts shop nationwide and select from among a wide variety of delicious donuts.

“We hope that Dunkin’ Donuts can make Tax Day a little more palatable for tax filers and coffee lovers by offering them a delicious free donut. We know Americans work hard for their money and this is our small way of showing our appreciation,” said Frances Allen, Dunkin’ Donuts Brand Marketing Officer.

There are 10 Dunkin Donuts in our region, based on my handy, dandy Google map.
