YSU, Vindy, others team to help inner-city kids play baseball

Please keep on your list today and Friday the opportunity to help a kid by cleaning out the old baseball gear in your house.
YSU softball players are heading a multi-group effort to find used baseball gear to equip Youngstown inner-city youth baseball.
That effort starts Saturday at YSU's game in Canfield. It will continue through May 30. The project asks you to bring your unneeded gear to various locations.
Here are some details:
YSU vs. Wright State University
Details: 1 p.m. Saturday with 1 p.m. Sunday as the rain date, McCune Park, Canfield. Admission is free. Bring used equipment including helmets, catcher’s gear, cleats, bats, gloves, balls and other items to receive a gift from the Green Team and Youngstown Litter Control and Recycling.
Other drop-off locations: YMCA’s downtown Youngstown and Boardman locations, Youngstown Police chief’s office where the collection is ongoing, and YSU Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center and Lake Milton State Park office, both of which have collections through May 30.
Distribution of equipment: Youngstown Police Athletic League, YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown will distribute the equipment to city children.
