The Horizon League announced its all-conference team on Monday. Here's how I voted:

1. Kendrick Perry, G, YSU: Led the league in scoring (20.9 per game) and finished second in steals (2.4) and tied for fourth in assists (4.3). Also made second team academic All-America, finished first team all-conference for the third straight year and made the all-defensive team for the second straight year. YSU didn’t win enough for him to earn player of the year, but he got my vote.

2. Alec Brown, C, Green Bay: The league’s defensive player of the year will soon break Damian Eargle’s Horizon League record for career blocks. He finished third in the league in 3-point percentage (44.1) while also placing ninth in rebounds (5.8) and first in blocks (3.3). He’ll be in the NBA next season.

3. Keifer Sykes, G, Green Bay: The league’s player of the year finished second in the league in scoring (20.4) and second in assists (5.0). A worthy player of the year choice.

4. Bryn Forbes, G, Cleveland State: Averaged 15.7 points per game and made 41.9 percent of his 3-pointers. Best player on the league’s second-best team.

5. LaVonte Dority, G, Valparaiso: South Florida transfer finished fifth in the Horizon League in scoring (16.2) and fourth in 3-point percentage (44.0).

6. AJ Pacher, F, Wright State: Leading scorer and rebounder on the league’s third-best team.

7. Corey Petros, C, Oakland: Led the league in rebounds (8.2) and was 10th in scoring (13.4). Better than his over-hyped teammate.

8. Juwan Howard, Jr., F, Detroit: Fourth in the league in scoring (18.2). It’s not his fault the Titans aren’t very good.

9. Anton Grady, F, Cleveland State: Wasn’t quite 100 percent after missing last season with a knee injury but was still fifth in the league in rebounds (6.7) and averaged 10.4 points per game. The league’s second-best team deserves two players on this list, especially since Milwaukee’s Jordan Aaron (who made the second team) was suspended several games for violating team rules.

10. Travis Bader, G, Oakland: The league’s most overrated player is a catch-and-shoot 3-point specialist who holds the NCAA’s career 3-point record. Not coincidentally, he also holds the NCAA’s career 3-point attempts record. Shot just 39 percent from the field this season while averaging 1.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds. Also doesn’t play defense.

Player of the year: Perry.

Coach of the year: Brian Wardle, Green Bay.

All-freshman team: Alec Peters, Valparaiso; Jarod Williams, Detroit; Kahlil Felder, Oakland; Lexus Williams, Valparaiso; Pat Birt, UIC.
