Senior DE Vince Coleman and junior WR Marcel Caver were among the 13 players who left Youngstown State's football team between spring camp and training camp, which opened Thursday.

Coleman was the only projected starter among the departures. The junior college transfer played in all 12 games last season but left the team in mid-July due to family issues back home in California, a YSU source said.

The speedy Caver played in 10 games, catching 21 passes for 393 yards and three TDs. His reception total was the fourth-highest on the team and his yardage was second-highest, just behind Andrew Williams' 395. Caver was a two-year letterman.

Other notable defectons include tight end Terry Johnson, a two-time letterman who changed positions in the spring, and safety Parnell Taylor, a three-year letterwinner who started his career at running back.

Other departing players are: WR Derrick Burgess, QB Ashton Owens, PK Justin Evans, OG Jacob Griffith, CB Kevin Cylar, CB Jailyn Moore, FS Grant Mercer and DE Chavien Nolcox.
