A few observations:

1. The big stunner, at least to me, is Dubem Nwadiogbu moving ahead of Travis Williams at Will (weakside) linebacker.

Wiliams started every game there last season as a true freshman but has not impressed the coaches this summer. Nwadiogbu is one of the team's most athletic players.

2. How about Donald D'Alesio earning a starting spot at safety?

D'Alesio has played safety, cornerback and nickel in practice this summer and it's a tribute to how much the coaches like him and trust him that he was able to earn a starting spot despite not practicing in the spring and being very limited in the first few weeks of fall camp.

I'm also told he got quite a few votes for team captain, which just goes to show you how much his teammates respect him even though he's just a redshirt sophomore.

3. No big surprises on offense, but a couple small ones.

First, I don't know the reasoning behind Radakovich and Bryant being equal on the depth chart but I wonder if it has something to do with Radakovich's lingering shoulder injuries. He's started nearly every game of his YSU career at tackle.

Second, Andrew Williams moved ahead of Kintrell Disher on the depth chart. Disher played a lot more last season when both were true freshmen.

4. Pitt also released its first depth chart and Mooney grad Ray Vinopal is the starter at strong safety.

Vinopal was a starter as a true freshman at Michigan two years ago, then sat out last year after transferring to Pitt.
