Station Square Ristorante Adam Zagotti passed the introductory sommelier course in November 2014. He had never worked a day in the restaurant business prior to studying for the test.He worked full time in classical music as the music director at Trinity United Methodist Church.

"My friends would always send me pictures of their wines when they were out to dinner and I was the go to guy when anyone had a wine question, so I thought why not find out just how much I know and what else I can learn."

Adam kind of discovered fine wine by accident when one of his friends was house sitting for a physician who had an extensive wine collection. He offered him the chance to try some of the greatest wines from around the world. Six years later Adam found a photo of the favorite bottle they enjoyed that night and was shocked to find out it was a 1997 Screaming Eagle Cabernet worth $4700 a bottle.

Adam also has a keen interest in creating quality, hand crafted cocktails. He's working on creating a specialty cocktail menu for the restaurant. He has also hosted a scotch and cigar event on the station square patio..

Education is another important aspect of Adam's position. He starts every shift meeting with the wait staff talking about wines or other aspects of beverage service. He also instituted "Wine Wednesday" where he selects 6 wines not on the regular menu to feature at retail prices for diners to enjoy.

Adam really enjoys people who are willing to go outside their usual wine choices. Wine Wedneday allows him to expose hundreds of people the new and different wines each week. "People should drink what they like, but sometimes I can help them find new things or even realize that they like something else more than their usual choices."

Here are some of Adam's wine picks:

Sation Square Favorites:

Ulysses Valdez Zinfandel

Brochelle Vineyards Syrah

Colome' Estate Malbec

Neal Family Vineyards Petite Syrah

Personal Favorites:

Duval Leroy Champagne

Southern Rhone wines in general

California Zinfandel - Seghesio, Valdez, Peterson Winery

Hungarian Tokai

Stop and see Adam on the floor of Station Square Tuesday through Saturday. Wine night is every Wednesday from 5pm to close. Adam also hosts monthly wine tastings, usually on a Thursday night.
