Its that time of year again... Next week at this time many Americans' homes will be filing up with guests arriving from near and far. Families will be gathering around large tables covered with an amazing array of traditonal Thanksgiving cuisine.
The question is, what to drink with all of this great food? I think the most important thing is to drink wine brands that you and your guests traditonally identitfy and enjoy. If you can't remember or aren't sure what kind of wine your guests prefer, don't be afraid to ask.
Here's a few general recommednations for pairing wine with the traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey and all the trimmings:
1. Riesling
Corvidae "Ravenna" (Washington), Dr. Loosen Bros "Dr. L" (Germany), Ferrante Signature (OH)
2. Chardonnay
Rombauer Vineyards (California), Joseph Drouhin "Saint Veran" (France), Stoller (Oregon)
3. Pinot Noir
Meiomi (California), Nobilo Icon (New Zealand), Ponzi Family Vineyards (Oregon)
4. Red Blends
Joel Gott "Alakai" (California), Delas Cotes Du Ventoux (France), Amavi Cellars (Washington)
Please remember that these are general guidleines for wines that traditonally pair well with turkey. You'll notice there are no really big reds, espcially bold cabs or cab blends. You can drink those if you wish, but they will likely overwhlem the food you are eating.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the readers of the Drinks Blog. i hope you have a safe and happy holiday with all your firends and family.
