Local wine lovers will gather tomorrow night at the beautifully renovated The Fifth Floor Restaurant for a global expedition of wine and food. "Vino In The City" is a local wine dinner designed to draw people downtown for a great night of wine and food.
This event was constructed as a kind of world tour of wine, with each wine coming from a different country and four different continents. A Tapas dinner menu was specially created for the event by The Fifth Floor's Chef. Each course is carefully paired with an individual wine.
Here's a look at the wine list for "Vino In The City":
1. 2013 Skeleton Gruner Vetliner
Fresh, fruity, and above all, food-friendly, Grüner Veltliner (”Gru-Vee” for short) shows off the charms that make the grape Austria’s favorite white wine varietal. A racy wine with explosive fruit flavors, a light mineral undercurrent, and a full, expansive finish.
2. 2012 Sebastiani Sonoma Chardonnay
Rich gold color with beautiful aromas of lemon curd, modest yellow apple, and caramelized vanilla. It’s a medium bodied wine that rests nicely on the palate, exuding flavors of bright apple and butterscotch, and finishes with round notes of toasted oak from the barrel fermentation. This is a nice wine that is perfectly balanced between bright citrus fruits and oak flavors.
3. 2009 Villosell Spanish Red Blend - Rioja
Aromas of black and blue fruits and dark chocolate, with a peppery overtone. Plush and appealingly sweet, offering spicy blackberry and boysenberry flavors and a hint of mocha. Finishes with a good breadth and lenght, leaving a smoke note behind.
4. 2013 Trapiche Oak Cask Malbec - Mendoza
Intense red color with violet hints. Medium-bodied with an elegant touch of smoke and vanilla from the oak aging. It has a velevety texture, supple tannins and a spicy, full finish.
5. 2012 19 Crimes Shriaz Blend - Australia
The color is a translucent dusty red cherry. The alcohol, a modest 13%. In the nose, ample cranberry, currant, plum, and cherry cough drop mix with vanilla and cinnamon spice. The same flavor profile is evident in the mouth, picking up some licorice root and smooth, earthy tannins. Finally, this red finishes with a kiss of sweet red fruit.
Tomorrow night's event is open to the public. You can still make reservations by calling The Fifth Floor at (330) 744-9556 or by logging on to www.myvalleyvino.com.
