I had a chance to sit down and taste through the portfolio of Delas winery recently. The Northern Rhone producer has an impressive lineup of wines that delivery quality above their price point. The Rhone Valley is known primary for Syrah and their famous GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre) blends.
Recently, priuces for the top tier Rhone producers have skyrocketed as buyers from China and India have discovered them. There is still a lot of value in Rhone if you look around a bit, and Delas is a wonderful example of that.
Here's a look at four wines I tasted from Delas:
2013 Delas Ventoux - Ventouz Controlee
2012 Delas Crozes-Hermitage (Syrah) - Les Launes
2013 Delas Cotes-Du-Rhone - Saint Espirit
2011 Delas Chateaunuef de Pape
All of these wines are distributed locally ny Vintage Wine. You likely won't find them in grocery stores, but any good independent wine shop can order them for you if they don't already have them on the shelf. I'll be visiting Delas as part of my trip to France in early September, so stay tuned for me coverage of that visit. Until next time, cheers!
