Terra d'Oro Winery is a unique and interesting California story. The winery is in one of the most historic parts of California. Amador County rests in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains where the great California Gold Rush took place. In fact, some of the vineyards in the area were grown so the miners seeking their fortunes would have some vino to enjoy after their day of digging. Terra d' Oro's Deaver Vineyard is over 150 years old and produces some of the best Zinfandel in the state vintage after vintage.

A local event will take place on October 9th to celebrate Terra d'Oro Winery. Station Square Ristorante will hold a special tasting of their wines and feature some delightful Italian dinner pairings created by Chef / Owner Ottavio Musumeci. Here's a look at the five wines being featured at the upcoming event:

2012 Pinot Grigio

Entices with a nose of ripe, bright pear and clover blossom. Rich and dense, the mouth oozes with juicy pear and stone fruit flavors, finishing with an elegant touch of toasted French oak. 

2013 Chenin Blanc - Viognier

Vibrant and inviting with tropical fruit notes. This wine enchants the nose with a bouquet of tropical and stone fruit blossoms and hints of spice. Filled with bright and juicy fruits, the palate flaunts flavors of papaya, ripe mango, candied pineapple and subtle apricot. The wine is refreshing and well balanced with crisp acidity.

2008 Barbera

Showcases the refreshing acidity of the grape with inviting aromas of sweet red fruit and fresh toasted bread. Enticing flavors of cherry cola and blueberries coat the palate, and polished tannins boast an elegant, round finish.

2010 Sangiovese

A beautiful wine with elegant and inviting aromas of sweet rosewater, exotic spices and subtle hints of raspberries. Rich flavors of candied cherry, red currant tea, allspice and white pepper coat the mouth and its complex tannic structure make for a round finish. The Sangiovese is light-bodied and offers bright acidity, making it the perfect food-friendly wine.

2010 Amador Zinfandel

This savory Zinfandel displays vibrant aromas of rich, spicy clove and big, generous fruit with hints of vanilla that entice the nose. An abundance of plums and flavors of dense, juicy blackberries excites the senses with a round mouthfeel of well-integrated tannins on the finish. This wine is rich and powerful, and incredibly well-balanced.
