There are no shortage of charity wine events in our Valley throughout the course of the year. Local organizations identified wine as a great way to attract people and raise money for there causes a long time ago. There is a fun event today to benefit the Trumbull County Tennis Association Scholarship Fund from 2-5PM at Station Square Ristorante in Liberty.

Each year the TCTA awards five scholarships to local tennis players based on their athletic accomplishments in the sport, academic achievement and leadership excellence. The scholarships range in value from $1-2,000 per student. Readers of this blog may not know that I attended Youngstown State University on a full tennis scholarship in the late 1980's / early 90's, so this cause is near and dear to my heart.

I will be hosting the event along with TCTA Board President Dr. Jim Trapp. Dr. Trapp founded the oprganizations decades ago and has been a great promoter and supporter of tennis since I first met him as a teenager in 1987.

The tasting will take place on Station Sqsaure's beautiful Tuscan Patio from 2-5PM today (Saturday) and will feature 10 wines and ten beers from around the world. Tickets are only $30 and will be avilable at the door today.

Here's a look at some of the featured wines and beers:

"Top Spin" Cab, Chard and Blend from California

Ferrante Signature Series Cabernet Franc and Classic American Riesling

Graham Berck Game Reserve Cabernet

Cupcake Moscato di Asti

Flip Flop Pinot Grigio

Victory Brewing Company

Greys Brewing Company

Samuel Adams

If you're looking for something fun and easy to do today and support a great local cause, come on out to Station Square and join the fun!
