Many wine drinkers face the same dilema around this time every year. The warmer days and evenings make enjoying the big and bold reds a little more challenging. Lots of Valley wine movers just aren't quite ready to give up their reds and start working on the whites in their collections.

Pinot Noir provides an excellent alternative as the weather begins to warm, but the temps don't yet reach the highs of summer. Here's a look at five Pinots that stood out during a recent round of tasting:

1. 2012 Six Degrees Pinot Noir (California) $18

Lighter in style with delicate strawberry and a hint of flora.

2. 2012 Charles Krug Pinot Noir (Napa Valley, CA) $38

Concentrated berry fruits and layers of delicate spice and terroir

3. 2012 Laetitia Estate Pinot Noir (Arroyo Grande Valley, CA) $20

Fresh raspberry with bright strawberry and a balanced flvor profile throughout.

4. 2012 Belle Glos "LAs Alturas" Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands) $45

Intense berrry and red cherry with a little spice and a lengthy finish.

5. 2011 Rex Hill Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, OR) $34

Elegant fruits and an well structured earthy components with a hint of mushroom.

Hope you enjoy these five nice Pinots!
