Argentinian wines have grown in popularity in our Valley and throughout the United States over the last five years. Most people still think of Malbec from the Mendoza Valley, but there is a lot more out there to investigate and enjoy.
A local event on April 24th at Avalon Golf and Country Club features the five wines listed below and offers guests the chance to enjoy a specailly paired Tapas dinner with some authentic South American recipes. Here's a look at the wines:
1. 2012 Amalaya White Blend
Light crisp and refreshing blend of 90% Torrontes and 10% Riesling.
2. 2011 Graffigna Pinot Grigio
Fresh and juicy tropical fruit flavors with great balance and a surprisingly rich finish.
3. 2011 Graffigna Malbec
Nicely balanced fruit and spice components with moderate tannins and good integration.
4. 2011 Graffigna Cabernet
An enticingly crafted cab with deep dark fruit flavors and zesty spice notes.
5. 2010 Norton Privada
An amazing blend of 60% Malbec, 20% Cabernet and 20% Merlot.
