Orin Swift's wine portfolio is an incredible collection with great variety and quality across the board. While "The Prisoner" is by far his most famous wine, there are other tremendous offerings on his list.
Valley wine lovers will have a chance to taste some Swift wines for an almost unbelievably low ticket price of $25. The event is at Liberty's Station Ristorante on Thursday the 21st at 6:30Pm.
Here's a look at my favorite Orin Swift wines (not all will be in the tasting):
1. The Prisoner (no longer made by Orin Swift)
A blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet, Syrah, Petite Syrah and Grenache. Enticing aromas of cherry, coffee, and fig. Ripe raspberry and wild berries provide a lush finish.
2. Abstract
A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Petite Syrah from Napa Mendocino, and Sonoma counties. Flavors of ripe blackberry, plum and baker's chocolate are well integrated and provide a mouthfull of flavor.
3. Palermo
83% Cabernet with intense dark fruit flavors of currant and black cherry with a hint of mocha. This wine has focused tannins and while approachable now, can also be aged up to eight years.
4. Pappilon
A 60%-40% Cab / Merlot blend with beautifully balanced flavors of red cherry, blueberry, espresso and black licorice. 16 months aging in French oak provides spice and a memorable finish.
5. D 66
100% Grenache from France. Aged 18 months in French oak and an additional 5 months of bottle aging. Intense depth and concentration of flavors.
Space is still available for the tasting Thursday. Call Station Square Ristorante for more information or to make a reservation.
