It used to be that we thought of good Chardonnay as coming from France or California. These days, wineries around the globe are producing excellent versions of the most popular white varietal. Here's a look at five excellent Chardonnays that wont hit you too hard in the wallet:

Siete Fincas (Argentina) - Tropical fruits and light toast on the finish ($17)

Oxford Landing (Australia) - Pineapple and Mango with a hint of citrus ($13)

Cave de Lugny "Les Charmes" (France) - Orchard fruit and a little creamy ($12)

Creme de Lys (California) - Bright apple with rich butter on the finish ($15)

Seven Falls (Washington) - Pear and white peach with defined vailla and cream ($20)

All of these Chardonnays are excellent for warm weather drinking and will pair up wonderfully with a multititude of seafood entrees as well as lighter poultry options. You can learn more about great summer wine options one week from today as the unveil out top summer picks on the front page of the Food Section.

Cheers and Bon Appetite!
