There are many excellent options for lovers of Australian wines. Penfolds, Jacob's Creek, and Peter Lehman come to mind when I think of great values from the land down under. One Aussie winery stands out for offering high quality wines at surprisingly low price points.

Yalumba has over 25 wines available in the US market, including some truly special and unqiue reserve wines ranging in price from $20-$80. The strength of the Yalumba portfolio lies in the less expensive wines, namely their "Y Series". These wines range in price from $12-$15 retail in Ohio. The wines taste well above this price point.

Yalumba "Y Series" Wines That Are Widely Available In Our Valley:

Unwooded Chardonnay - Fruity and lush with great pineapple, grapefruit, and honeydew melon with a hint of honey. Nice citrus acidity in the finish.

Viognier - Fresh white peach and apricot flavors offer excellent richness and a lush mouthfeel. A hint of citrus on the finish offers balance.

Shiraz / Viognier Blend - A really well structured and integrated wine with tremendously jammy fruit and refeshing spice flavors mingling accross the palate.

Shiraz - Nice complexity with intense berry and ripe plum flavors intertwining with licorice and mocha. A elegant wine with multiple layers of flavor.

Cabernet - A fruit forward style cab with bright red cherry and mixed berry flavors. Vibrant on the palate with toasty oak and good tannic structure.

When shopping for value, make sure you consider the Yalumba "Y  Series". They are definitely worth the current retail prices and offer value well beyond.
