When August hits its time to put the stouts and porters in storage for me. I really enjoy the heffe weizen, weissbiers and witts this time of year. Here's a few refreshing favorites to get you through the rest of the summer from the worlds oldest brewery:

Weihenstephaner Kristall Weisbier

A super premium German import that is somehow Crystal clear in both appearance and flavor. Very crisp and well defined. Most Weissbiers are cloudy by nature. This one is special.

Weihenstephaner Heffeweisbier Dunkel

I know I said put the dark beers in storage, but this one is unique. It is a drak wiess. Very soft and approachable with malty flavors and excellent balance. If you are going to drink dark beer in August, give this one a try.

Weihenstephaner Natur Radler

Their original Weisbier with fresh lemon juice infused into the brewing process. It has naturally ocurring pulb as part of the finished product. More defined and flavorfull than the American Shandy's and it is 100% natural.

Weihenstephaner Weisbier Lecht

You don't see too many authentic German light beers out there. This brewery was one of the first to make it and has been doing so ever since. Very low in alcohol (3.3%) and light on the palate. It is easily drinkable and digestiblle.

Weihenstephaner is distributed locally by Cavalier Distributing. These beers are in stock in most of the better independent wine and beer shops in the area and even some Giant Eagle stores. If your local store doesn't carry them yet, they can get them for you easily through Cavalier.
