Raymond Vineyards has been making great wine in Napa for over five decades.  The Winery was founded and operated by the Raymond family for over 50 years, and boasted 4 generations of the family working at the winery.  Recently, the Raymonds sold their controlling interest in the winery to a French company.  Fortunately, the quality and diversity of their offerings has not suffered; in fact, there have been some new additions that have made their wine portfolio even more appealing. Here's a look at some of what Raymond has to offer.

"R" Collection Series - All $13 per bottle

2009 Chardonnay - Flavors of apple and pear in this fruit-forward, delightful chard.

2008 Merlot - One of the best values of any wine. Great fruit and light spice.

2010 Cabernet - Perfect for those who like their cabs a little more delicate.

2010 Lot #3 Field Blend - Layers of fruit, earth, and spice work well together.

Reserve Selections - Range in price from $12-$25.  All grapes from Napa Valley

2009 Sauvignon Blanc - Crisp and refreshing with nice floral and tropical notes.

2010 Chardonnay - A richer and more intricate flavor profile than "R". Butter finish.

2008 Merlot - Incredibly smooth, delicate and highly drinkable. Light fruit flavors.

2009 Cabernet - One of the best price points of any Napa Reserve Cabernet ($25)

Raymond also does several small lot and "disrtrict" selections that utilize grapes from specific sub-appelations of Napa like Oakville and St. Helena.  These wines are fantastic for those who like to age their wines a bit.  I still have a couple bottles of the 2003 St. Helena cab, and it is drinking fantastic.  The cornerstone of Raymond's portfolio is their "Generations" Cabernet which they make from only the best, hand-selected grapes from each year's harvest.  Generations is a real treat to drink.  I strongly recommend it for those looking for a special bottle or to add to a wine cellar.

If you travel to Napa, put Raymond on your list of must visit wineries.  I have been there four times and can tell you their hospitality is second to none. Raymond is distributed locally by Ohio Wine and Beverage Company.  Their wines a widely available in local stores and restaurants.
