I had the pleasure of attending the Church Hill Commons Giante Eagle holiday wine taste Tuesday evening. It was impressive to see nearly 120 people in attendance with over 30 wines and 20 beers offered to taste. It is unusual for an event of this type to be held in a grocery store. Managers Scott and Glen along with store owners Bob and Ron Graf were all in attendance and seemed to genuinely enjoy pouring samples for their guests and mingling with them. Congratulations to the guys on putting on such a large and cool event. Here are some of my favorite wines from the evening:

Caymus Conundrum White - Rich, and elegant with great orchard fruit flavor.

Merryvale Starmont Chardonnay - Bright apple and pear with buttery notes.

Raymond Lot #7 Field Blend - Earthy and intricate with dark fruit and mild spice.

Frei Borthers Napa Cab - Bold and beautiful with great balance and a long finish.

Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin - Medium bodied with great baked fruit and moderate spice.

Looking forward to attending this event again next year. Great job guys!
