Round 2, The Elite Eight

TRUMBULL COUNTY

Fire Grill BBQ v. Sunrise Inn or The New Manhattan

The final Round 1 match-up will be Wednesday, March 30, and it is a monumental one between two past BURGERGUYZ Burger of the Year champions: The New Manhattan Bar & Grill, (2014 BOTY), who is also winner of multiple Battle of the Burgers awards including back to back "People's Choice" awards, will take on Sunrise Inn, (2011 BOTY), of Warren for the right to move on to the quarter finals where they will face Fire Grill BBQ of Girard.

Amen Corner v. Just Fred's

Amen Corner, (Girard), is fresh off a surprise decision over The 2012 BOTY champ The Lake Tavern, who has won multiple awards from the 2014 and 2015 Mahoning Valley Battle of the Burgers and have the honor of being named as one of the top 15 burgers in the state of Ohio by thrilllist.com. Just Fred's, (Liberty), the 2015 BOTY champ and multiple award winner from the 2015 Battle of the Burgers defeated High Pointe Restaurant & Tavern, (Niles), in a very close match. The judge for this one, 93.3 FM The Wolf's Fast Freddie, was very impressed with both burgers and it came down to the use of a pretzel bun to tip the scales.

MAHONING COUNTY

Crickets v. Magic Tree

Crickets Bar & Grill, (Youngstown), is counting on another good showing against Magic Tree Pub & Eatery (Boardman) like they had against the 2013 BOTY champ, and BURGERGUYZ #1 ranked burger, Bogey's Bar & Grill. Magic Tree Magic Chef, John "Tank" Jurcisin is looking to advance to the final four after knocking out Royal Oaks Bar & Grill, (Youngstown), in round one.

O'Donold's v. YOLO

YOLO Grille & Taproom Chef Matt Sutton's victory over a very strong, highly ranked Coaches Burger Bar seems to give them the momentum going into the match against 2009 BOTY champ, O'Donold's Bar & Grill. O'Donold's advanced when scheduling difficulties occurred with a match v. Krakatoa Tropical Food & Spirits who graciously bowed out so not to delay the tournament schedule. A loss for all following the bracket because Krakatoa has an excellent burger with the potential to compete against anyone. Who knows, maybe they will challenge the Cheeseburger Madness champion to a grill off!
