Round one of Cheeseburger Madness is proving to be deliciously exciting! The Mahoning County half of the bracket is complete and next week we move on to Trumbull County.

Here is a recap of the week's action:

Monday, (3/14) Magic Tree Pub & Eatery advanced by squeaking out a victory over Royal Oaks Bar & Grill.

Tuesday, (3/15) Crickets pulled off an upset by knocking off BURGERGUYZ #1 ranked Bogey's Bar & Grill. They are heading for a showdown with Magic Tree on Monday, March 28th.

Wednesday, (3/16) O'Donold's Irish Pub & Grill vs. Krakatoa Tropical Food & Spirits. This is where we ran into a problem. The guyz we had assigned to pick the burgers up weren't given clear instructions about ordering which resulted in the need to redo the match. Our apologies to both restaurants. 

*** UPDATE: An attempt to rectify this error through a rematch did not work out. O'Donold's will move on to the next round by default. We would like to emphasize the fact that Krakatoa has an outstnading burger that on any given day would give any of the Burger Madness contenders a run for their money!

Friday, (3/18) Newcomer and 2016 Burger of the Year contender, Coaches Burger Bar and YOLO Grille & Taproom battled it out with YOLO taking the nod and moving on to face O'Donold's on Tuesday, March 29.

The upcoming Trumbull match-ups look every bit as mouthwatering!

Monday, (3/21) Amen Corner in Girard will definitely have their hands full going up against The Lake Tavern in Cortland. The Lake Tavern won the BURGERGUYZ 2011 Burger of the Year award, multiple awards from the 2014 and 2015 Mahoning Valley Battle of the Burgers and hve the honor of being named as one of the 15 best burgers in Ohio by thrilllist.com. 

Tuesday, (3/22) BURGERGUYZ 2015 Burger of the Year winner, Liberty's Just Fred's, is in for a real test against High Pointe Restaurant & Tavern. Just Fred's won 4 awards at the 2015 Battle of the Burgers, including The Chef's Choice. BURGERGUYZ rated High Pointe 4 stars and gave them the title, "Best burger in Niles."

Wednesday, (3/23) Looks to be a barn burner! BURGERGUYZ 2010 Burger of the Year winner, Sunrise Inn of Warren is taking on the 2014 winner, The New Manhattan Bar & Grill of Hubbard. The New Manhattan has won multiple awards at the 2014 and 2015 Mahoning Valley Battle of the Burgers including The People's Choice both years.

Thursday, (3/24) Wrapping up round 1, Fire Grill in Girard, 4 1/2 star rating and another 2016 Burger of the Year contender, is facing off against the delicious burgers at Shakers Bar & Grill in Liberty, 4 star BURGERGUYZ rating.
