BURGERGUYZ:

ACBG Review

Rock N Robin

By Don Johnson

The Akron-Canton Burger Guyz are hardly halfway through the 2014 burger season and this year’s challengers are starting to line up. A nice evening in May took the ACBGuyz to Rock N Robin in the heart of Canton. This trip came on the recommendation of Tony “Comedy Killer” Heydon. Heydon is one of the newest Burger Guyz whose notoriety comes, in part from his frequent caller contributions to WNIR but, more importantly, the fact that the ACBGuyz learned of his ability to take on and complete burger challenges. It never hurts to have a ringer in the mix.

None of the Guyz had ever been here. As we walked in, we noticed that the décor appeared to be of higher class than us and those already there. But, don’t fret. Casual is how you go. There are nights when bands perform. There are nights with dinner specials.

Rock N Robin has a sizeable menu with meals in the $8.00 to $10.00 or so dollar range. But, the Rock N Robin features only two burgers from which to choose. One may choose between the Rock N Robin and the Mad Robin.

and we had no qualms about telling how we wanted our burgers cooked. Everybody’s burger came out exactly as ordered. The presentation for both was average. On a real plate, the burger sat fully dressed in a pretzel bun on one side and fries on the other. What sets the Mad Robin apart from the Rock N is the addition of deep fried jalapeno’s and pepper jack cheese. These are hand formed patties that are seasoned with the perfect ration of salt to garlic powder. The fried jalapenos and pepper jack maintained a comfortable warmth going on the pallet. The bun held this whole thing in place.

The Akron-Canton Burger Guyz recommends your taking time to stop here. Keep the ketchup and mustard on the table. The Mad Robin at Rock N Robin rocks.
