ACBG Review
Jimmy Bigg's Grille
By Don Johnson
Due to the extremely cold, near record breaking January temperatures, it was difficult for the Akron-Canton Burger Guyz to break winter hibernation just for a hamburger. But then, it was well worth it because we don’t look for just any hamburger, we look for the best burger that the Akron-Canton area has to offer.

Bigg’s is easy to get to. It sits just a handful of buildings south of Broad Boulevard on State Road.
Lacking a beer menu, our server, Mary Jo, was quick to point out the “Beer Wall” that displayed the canned and bottled offerings. We were told about the few that were on tap. Ten burgers appear in the menu along with a variety of appetizers, sides, sandwiches, hot dogs, wings.. you name it!

A few others ordered some wings as appetizers. These were good, too. However, the main attraction – hamburgers - had yet to be ordered.
Of the burger selections, a few ordered the “Rusty” and, surprisingly, most of the guyz gravitated toward the “Hot Jimmy” with the onion ring upgrade. As we were ordering it, Mary Jo told us that it is one of the most frequently ordered. After taste testing it, we understood why.

Unless the cook wants you to see the plethora of flavor layers, I’m not sure why. You will see the toasted Kaiser like bun, the pepper relish thaty spills off the burger after you add the crown, a slice of pepperjack cheese, onion and the chipotle mayo that drips out. Accompanying this is a pickle and your side.
Even though most of us ordered our burgers cooked to medium, they were closer to well-done but still very juicy. They were fresh and hot. The peppers hit that perfect balance between the pepper flavor and not searing the tongue. The bun was among the better buns that we’ve had. There was plenty of it for the burger and sturdily held up to the last bite. These ½ lb burgers with their toppings are something to be reckoned with.
