BURGERGUYZ:

ACBG Review

Treichel's Bar & Grille

 By Don Johnson

Late March led the Akron-Canton Burger Guyz to Treichel’s Bar and Grille located at 2752 Hudson Dr., in Cuyahoga Falls. Bob Treichel is not new to the food service industry. He owned and operated Treichel’s Grill in the Aurora Premium Outlets for many years. A few of us, having had burger experiences at the Aurora diner, had a benchmark with which to compare the new diner.

First time visitors will be overwhelmed with the sports and automobile memorabilia adoring all of the walls from floor to ceiling. Boxing gloves, hockey sticks, vintage gasoline pumps and autographs gives the solo diner or the bored with the group diner plenty of sports related eye candy with which to pass the time.

Unfortunately, the ACBGuyz were unanimously disappointed with their respective burgers. The group, in summary, indicated that the burgers appeared to have been commercially made and frozen and lacked good texture and flavor and were overcooked. The toppings were mild in flavor and the bun disintegrated quickly. The variety of sides available rescued the evening. Most were hot and tasteful.

Those of us, who had the opportunity to dine at the former Aurora restaurant, were surprised. We won’t write this one off yet as there could be a number of reasons contributing to the poor outcome. But, that aside, there is a large menu at Treichel’s that we hope you’ll take time to explore.
