The search for Akron’s best burger

The ACBGuyz decided to go on our own recommendation and made a stop at Pub Bricco in Akron’s Merriman Valley. Pub Bricco is spacious and comfortable. The wait staff and bar tenders are friendly and knowledgeable about the food and beverage offerings. With a sufficiently expanse food and beer menu, nobody should have problems finding something to eat or drink.

Pub Bricco has a unique menu design. Across the top are the sandwich choices;

· 8 OZ BEEF PATTY, CHICKEN BREAST, TURKEY OR VEGGIE BURGER $7.50,

· GRILLED SALMON $9

· CRAB CAKE $11

· TWO 4 OZ BEEF SLIDERS $9 

It is clear from the get-go what your sandwich will cost regardless of which of the 14 ingredient combinations you choose. The variety of topping combinations spans cultural influences such as Italian, Mediterranean, Asian, Cajun, Mexican and Southwestern.  

Everyone ordered the two 4 oz. sliders cooked medium. The kitchen will gladly make them the same or allow you to pick two of the 14 flavor combinations. This gave us the opportunity to sample more of their offerings. Some of our burger selections included the Whole Grain Mustard, Horseradish sauce, Sweep Pepper, Havarti and Onion Straws on a Multigrain Ciabatta Roll, the Pepperjack Cheese, Jalapenos, Spicy BBQ Ranch and Pickled Red Onion on a Kaiser. Our side selections included the house chips with peppercorn ranch and beer battered onion rings with a whole grain horseradish mustard sauce.

The burgers were cooked perfectly. They were hot, juicy and just a little pink inside. The 4 oz. burger was shaped a bit thick which gave it a good bite appeal.  The burgers were seasoned well. Everybody liked their respective topping combinations. Everybody agreed that there was no one ingredient that overpowered their burgers. Only two detractors were mentioned. First, everybody agreed that the bun, be it a Kaiser or Ciabatta, was up to the job of containing the contents, but felt dry. Second, from those who had the horseradish sauce, they were expecting greater flavor. Aside from that, the sides were fresh and hot.  And, at the end, everybody enjoyed their meals and everybody’s plate was clean.

This is a must go to place if you’re near the Merriman Valley. And, when you do, kindly mention that you learned about them from the Akron-Canton Burger Guyz.
