We found them through their numerous Facebook friends, who requested us to "try the best burgers around."
Shakers is run by Jason Sharpe and Dan Crump, who grew up in the Youngstown area, and know what their patrons want. Sharpe says, "We consider ourselves a bar first but also love good food." They back that up by serving only fresh food, not the pre-made, frozen foods.
Some of the feature menu items are ribs, steaks, fish, lamb and chicken, and of course, the burgers. Sharpe says, "In the past year and a half we have changed the menu a few times and decided to let the customers decide what burgers are best by making our burgers ‘Build Your Own.’

All burgers are served with lettuce, tomato and onions. From there, the customer can choose toppings ranging from an egg, mushrooms, hot peppers to sauteed onions and different cheeses for an additional .50 per item.
When we entered the cozy bar, we were pleasantly greeted by our hostess, waitress and bartender Jenn Daly who took care of us throughout our meal. We started off with a little something different - one appetizer each of mac and cheese bites and pepper shooters. Two items definitely worth trying before your main course.
We then took advantage of the build-your-own burger feature and each built our own perfect burgers with the great selection of toppings. The burgers were seasoned well and very filling with a toasted, yet soft bun. The fresh cut fries were crispy and very good. But the onion rings were what garnered the most attention. They had a light breading and an excellent flavor.
"These were the best onions rings I’ve had in quite a while, " said JT.
Greg Bartholomew added, "The onion rings were fantastic. And the burger was a good-sized, solid burger."
One of the features that stands out about Shakers is the outdoor brick patio, with large flatscreen TVs and an outdoor bar.
If you are looking for a place to stop after work, or a weekend party atmosphere, then Shakers is the place for you. Get the build your own burger, sit back, relax and enjoy.
