I recall saying on the show, awhile back, ' well, everyone thinks of killing themselves at some point...'

The response was interesting - generally, folks responded:
'maybe YOU, Louie, but not me !' OK, maybe there aren't as many that contemplate suicide, but, I believe most people would be diagnosed as clinically depressed at some point in their lives - possibly around the time of the death of someone close to their heart, or,while drowning: a sinking sadness or feeling of hopelessness.  Some of y'all have been offended when I've referred  to certain songs as ' run me a hot bath and leave the straight razor out, music'. I've written a piece 'http://ltf1090.tam.us.siteprotect.com/weblogs/brain-food/2014/jan/12/chasing-the-wrong-dragon/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Chasing the Wrong Dragon'  - why are so many people turning to junk(heroin). There are many folks profiteering on the pain that turns people to junk.  There are SO many people in SO much  emotional pain. Heroin addiction is slow suicide. Yeah, so back to suicide  - What takes the person from dog paddling to letting go, to going down, all the way down? (please know - I'm not attempting to answer that here). Also, I feel that suicide is a vicious act. The person committing  suicide alleviates themselves of all their worldly pain, but, inflicts horrific pain on all who care about them. They, forever, will ask themselves ' what didn't I say? what didn't I do? what did I miss? I could have saved them !
Maybe, the pain that leads to one shooting junk has come on more slowly from their childhood....maybe.

Doc writes:

Why did their friend, child, parent, spouse, or sibling take their own life? Even when a note explaining the reasons is found, lingering questions usually remain: yes, they felt enough despair to want to die, but why did they feel that? A person's suicide often takes the people it leaves behind by surprise (only accentuating survivor's guilt for failing to see it coming).People who've survived suicide attempts have reported wanting not so much to die as to stop living, a strange dichotomy but a valid one nevertheless. If some in-between state existed, some other alternative to death, I suspect many suicidal people would take it. "
Dr. Lickerman's the educated expert, I'm merely an auto-didactic radio artiste(ha!), but that "in-between state" DOES exist ! It's a junkie-way to get there, with, too often,an awful ending, but, nonetheless...
the junkie hitchhikes with a destination sign saying "heaven, paradise or, at least, not here!" They get the ride, THROUGH  paradise, but, are usually not left off where they want to be, they're dropped off in hell...then, tomorrow, it all starts again.

On the 15 of September, The Vindicator ran a front page story with a "warning":
http://www.vindy.com/news/2015/sep/15/commander-warns-dont-use-the-pure-white/#sthash.5CWhoMzS.dpuf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">" Hoso, commander of the Warren Police Department Street Crimes Unit, said one of the messages he wants the public to get is that the substance that caused the overdoses is a “pure white” powder.
The Vindicator and other area news media were responsible in doing so, but, this was also a message to junkies:' the good dope, is the white dope in Warren - more bang for your buck !' Escape is so simple, but, sometimes with tragic results.

Narcan/(naloxone) is "saving people's lives"...Suboxone is helping junkies detox without a lot of pain, but neither of these are dealing with the root causes of heroin addiction/suicide, fast or slow. Clinics are spouting up like weeds - but, the tsunami of addiction has yet to come ashore....
