http://www.harlemglobetrotters.com/" rel="nofollow">The Harlem Globetrotters are coming to town next week, buthttp://www.harlemglobetrotters.com/player/slick" rel="nofollow"> Slick Willie Shaw ,  was in-studio w/me this  morning.

As y'all know, I've been a proponent of the The Covelli Centre since it's Chevy Centre days These days, with Eric Ryan at the helm, we KNOW success is  assured, for the centre AND us !  So, when I was asked to have Harlem Globetrotter Slick on,of course I said yes. Yeah, I thought it would be fun. I'd recount how my father took the family to see the Globetrotter's 50 years ago, I took my family 20+ years ago..so I KNOW that ALL in attendance have a FANTASTIC time. What I didn't know was just what a 'MENSCH' was walking up to The Vindicator doors earlier this am.
When planning the interview, I was told that Kelsey Rupert, a bright and lovely young lady from Covelli Centre was bringing Slick to today's interview. As Kelsey and Slick approached the door, Slick Willie Shaw held the door and motioned Kelsey in ! Now, let's put this into perspective, this young man is an international star, admired, literally, around the world. Folks line up for his autograph, again, around the world. Now, other than me, there was no one to see this young gentleman's behaviour.  I was blown away ! When I asked Slick about his gentlemanly act, he said " Louie, it's up to guys like me to show that chivalry isn't dead."  We approached the elevator, and, once again, Slick Willie Shaw held the door and motioned Kelsey in, then, allowed her to go out first, when we arrived at our floor.

As is my habit when I see a young man with manners, I asked "Where did you get your manners?" Slick responded: "... from my mom and my grandparents".

There's a Yiddish word: MENSCH. One definition,  is "http://judaism.about.com/od/glossary/g/whatisamensch.htm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Mensch (מענטש) a Yiddish word that means "a person of integrity." A mensch is someone who is responsible, has a sense of right and wrong and is the sort of person other people look up to.

I met a real mensch this morning:  6'6" with long black braids, SLICK WILLIE SHAW...a tree may grow in Brooklyn, but this chivalrous young man grew up in the Bronx and , now travels the world. He's a wonderful ambassador from us, U.S..to the world!
