I just finished watching the movie DOUBT

(Doubt: A Parable is a 2004 play by John Patrick Shanley originally staged off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club on November 23, 2004. The production transferred to the Walter Kerr Theatre on Broadway in March 2005 and closed on July 2, 2006 after 525 performances and 25 previews....and the film:When the principal (Meryl Streep) of a Bronx Catholic High School accuses a popular priest (Philip Seymour Hoffman) of pedophilia, a young nun caught in between the feuding pair becomes hopelessly swept up in the ensuing controversy. 1964, St. Nicholas, the Bronx: The winds of change are sweeping through this tight-knit religious community, and charismatic priest Father Flynn (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is doing his best to adapt by revisiting the school's notoriously strict disciplinary practices. Unfortunately Father Flynn's progressive ideas stand in stark contrast to the longstanding beliefs of Sister Aloysius Beauvier (Meryl Streep), the iron-willed principal, who believes that an oppressive environment of punishment and fear is the only way to keep the student body in line. Suddenly into this tempestuous environment appears young Donald Miller, St. Nicholas' first black student. When hopeful innocent Sister James (Amy Adams) reluctantly reveals to Sister Beauvier that Father Flynn and Donald have been spending an unusual amount of time together in the church rectory, the unrelentingly righteous headmistress begins a merciless crusade to reveal the beloved clergyman as a lecherous child molester and have him permanently expunged from the school.)

Doubt's an amazing story of a tenacious Nun that won't quit when she, the nun, believes that a priest is molesting a little boy.

Yeah, I DO have a personal interest here- I was molested by a priest,albeit, not a Catholic priest, but an Orthodox priest. I waited a bit before writing this - as I was a bit too emotional (personal issues)when the movie finished.

Here is my point : Why are there not more Nuns like Sister McEntee ??? Now, understand,  that in the film-Doubt-the sister only gets the priest to move to another parish, where he is, in fact, promoted !! We all know(sorry,really sorry to my Catholic friends,but we ALL know it's true) that's all too common in the Catholic Church,even today.

Near the end of the film, DOUBT, Sister Aloysius says: "He was what I thought he was..."--that should have been : " He IS what I KNOW he IS..."

postscript: Many of y'all that listen to the show know that I have a couple of callers that like to refer to me as a "kike".  Those that know me personally - that I am a Jew, might be wondering, how did a little Jew get molested by a Christian Orthodox Priest  ( the so-called http://stnicholasalbanianchicago.org/history.html" rel="nofollow">Fr Phillip Koufos). Well, I'd say : "ask my religious Jewish mother,Shirley"- except, she's been dead for about 8 years. My best recall is that my mom and I were approached in a store callled Almart or Allmart on Boardman-Canfield road, aka: rt 224. My loving mother was taken by this then young priest. She had Koufos over for dinner (once he came upstairs to my bedroom to "say g'night to me" and felt me up while I was a little boy in bed). I had been molested many years earlier so was readily available to him. My mother frequently had Koufos 'babysit" me. You REALLY do not want to know about that...........
