State Rep. Robert F. Hagan, D-33rd, was so outraged by the sentence commutation of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby earlier this week that he's formally offering the suggestion to President George W. Bush, and is considering introducing a statewide resolution doing the same.

"It would seem to me that a man who has jeopardized the safety and life of a CIA agent, who lied to Congress and lied to a grand jury to protect the president and vice president, should serve some jail time," Hagan said. "If they're going to release [Libby], they should release Jim Traficant from prison, as well. Bob Hagan, D-Youngstown, has drafted a letter to the president asking him to commute the sentence of former Ohio U.S. Rep. James Trafficant. Trafficant is currently serving an eight-year sentence on federal corruption charges including bribery, racketeering and tax evasion. Hagan, who ran against Trafficant in 2001, said Trafficant must go free since the commutation of Libby's sentence.

"He's no friend of mine. We have a mutual dislike for one another," Hagan said of Trafficant.

"If you're going to allow one to go free, you have to allow the other," Hagan said adding that Trafficant's crimes "pale in comparison to what Scooter Libby did."

I'm really troubled by this one. I am trying to discern the truth of what you did or didn't do from your *facetiousness*.

You see,Bobby, you are a REPRESENTATIVE, you REPRESENT the people of this area, therefore, you owe the people of this area the truth and motivation of your recent acts and statements. Your words are printed and broadcast, reprinted and rebroadcast and become a reflection on us.
