*"You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.
And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye, and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.
You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older"*

from the Youngstown Vindicator,Friday,06July:COLUMBUS xc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x80x9d A Youngstown lawmaker is writing a letter to the president seeking the early release of disgraced former U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr.
State Rep. Robert F. Hagan, D-33rd, was so outraged by the sentence commutation of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby earlier this week that he's formally offering the suggestion to President George W. Bush, and is considering introducing a statewide resolution doing the same.
"It would seem to me that a man who has jeopardized the safety and life of a CIA agent, who lied to Congress and lied to a grand jury to protect the president and vice president, should serve some jail time," Hagan said. "If they're going to release [Libby], they should release Jim Traficant from prison, as well. Jim Traficant's crimes paled in comparison to what Libby did on an international scale...I'm writing a letter to him[President Bush], and hopefully I'll get a resolution ready and ask my colleagues to sign on, as well," Hagan said.----facetious,Bobby?
"Outrage over Bush's jail sentence commutation for White House aide Scooter Libby motivated Hagan to send Bush a letter today that urged Traficant's release from prison."
"It was hard to explain to them my true motives," he [Hagan]said.- Cleveland Plain Dealer

Ohio state Rep. To Bush: If You Want To xc3xa2xe2x82xacxcbx9cCoddle Criminals,xc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2 Then Pardon Traficant
As soon as President Bush commuted the prison sentence of his former aide, I. Lewis xc3xa2xe2x82xacxc5x93Scooterxc3xa2xe2x82xacxc2x9d Libby, attorneys across the country immediately began arguing that their clients deserve xc3xa2xe2x82xacxc5x93the Libby treatment.xc3xa2xe2x82xacxc2x9d
Yesterday, Ohio State Rep. Bob Hagan (D-Youngstown) sent a letter to President Bush, claiming that his standards for Libby should be applied to another criminally-challenged political figure: former U.S. Congressman James Traficant, who was convicted in 2002 on bribery and racketeering charges
President Bush has yet to respond to Haganxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2s request for clemency for Traficant.--from Think Progress.com
... As State Rep. Bob Hagan says: "If it's good enough for Libby, why not Traficant?" Why not, indeed? Hagan, a Youngstown Democrat who ran against wild-haired Traficant in 2001, has written to the president asking him to commute former Congressman Traficant's eight-year sentence for bribery, racketeering and corruption_- from The Chillicothe Gazette
and this, from Campaigns and Elections Magazine, read nationally, by lawmakers, political insiders, etc: State Rep. Bob Hagan, D-Youngstown, has drafted a letter to the president asking him to commute the sentence of former Ohio U.S. Rep. James Trafficant. Trafficant is currently serving an eight-year sentence on federal corruption charges including bribery, racketeering and tax evasion. Hagan, who ran against Trafficant in 2001, said Trafficant must go free since the commutation of Libby's sentence.
"He's no friend of mine. We have a mutual dislike for one another," Hagan said of Trafficant.
"If you're going to allow one to go free, you have to allow the other," Hagan said adding that Trafficant's crimes "pale in comparison to what Scooter Libby did."
Facetious,Bobby?
So,Bobby, did you or did you not send a letter to the President of the United States *"...asking him to commute the sentence of former Ohio U.S. Rep. James Trafficant..."* ?
So,Bobby, are you or are you not trying to *"...get a resolution ready and ask my colleagues to sign on, as well,"* Hagan said.
I'm really troubled by this one. I am trying to discern the truth of what you did or didn't do from your *facetiousness*.
You see,Bobby, you are a REPRESENTATIVE, you REPRESENT the people of this area, therefore, you owe the people of this area the truth and motivation of your recent acts and statements. Your words are printed and broadcast, reprinted and rebroadcast and become a reflection on us.
note: I emailed and called Rep.Hagan's office several times last week. I am writing this Sunday eve, w/o a response from Rep.Hagan or anyone from his office. ( I am posting this Tuesday early am-still no response.)
