Pedophile Sting
Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene called a press conference at 11 a.m. this morning to discuss a “very successful” human trafficking investigation. Greene said a pedophile sting operation is among the most successful operations in the state. “Operation Pedo Cure” netted 10 men who attempted to solicit sex from teenage boys and girls. “It was a huge eye-opener. Especially if you have kids,” Greene said.

Jacob LaRosa, 18, of Lafayette Avenue in Niles pleaded no contest Tuesday to aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and attempted rape in the March 31, 2015, killing of Marie Belcastro 94, in her home on Cherry Street in Niles.
Glenn Johnson on Lordstown
United Auto Workers locals 1112 and 1714 are merged. Local 1112 now represents all 3,000 workers at the General Motors Lordstown Complex where the Chevrolet Cruze, a compact car, is produced. The merger is a move to make the plant more cost effective. The hope is the merger plus attaining production benchmarks will lead to a new vehicle. “It’s up to us to earn that product,” said Robert Morales, president of Local 1714. “We are up to that task.”
Ricki Williams Sentenced
The 22-year-old Ricki Williams IV was sentenced to life in prison Thursday with the opportunity for parole after 62 years for the 2014 stabbing death of 16-year-old Gina Burger.
