Youngstown TEA Party
Area residents came together April 15 for a Tax Day TEA Party on Federal Avenue in Youngstown as a protest against taxes and other issues. The Youngstown-area protest was coordinated by the YSU College Republicans.

First Practice at Sharon Speedway
Sharon Speedway hosted an open practice for all divisions of racing free for fans on Saturday, April 11. It was the first time racers had been on the track since it received a new 18" of surface. There will be another open practice April 18. The season officially begins May 2.

Thunder vs. Iron
af2 teams Mahoning Valley Thunder and Milwaukee Iron compete Saturday, April 4 at the Chevrolet Centre. The Thunder lost, 59-39. Both teams moved to 1-1 on the season. Wide Receiver CJ Brewer caught 10 passes for 101 yards in front of 3,465 fans in attendance.
Football Game of Hope
The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley hosted their first Football Game of Hope Saturday at the Chevrolet Centre. Founder and president of the Hope Foundation, Tony Spano, says they plan on making the game an annual event in addition to their softball and basketball games. The Hope Foundation raises money for chronically and terminally ill children. The Football Game of Hope also benefited Ava Timko, an infant diagnosed with leukemia. The game featured local football coaches and figures, including Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams.
