Charges Dismissed
The Oakhill Renaissance Place criminal conspiracy case, which had been under investigation since 2007 and under indictment for nearly a year, has ended abruptly in a 10-minute court hearing and a one-paragraph judgment entry of dismissal. However, visiting Judge William H. Wolff Jr., of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, dismissed the 73-count indictment Monday without prejudice, meaning the charges could be re-filed later.

The area’s best youth golfers hit the links Tuesday, trying to make a name for themselves and collect the scholarship that comes along with the success. It’s the kickoff to the first “Greatest Junior Golfer in the Valley” tournament, and the first ball will be launched off the tees of the Diamond Back Golf Course in Canfield. Throughout the month, golfers under the age of 18 as of Aug. 31 will attempt to qualify and be named the best.

TBEIC Comes to Warren
A symbolic step was taken Wednesday in the revitalization process of downtown Warren, when John Pogue helped officially debut the new TBEIC site, a 37,000-square foot, two-level building near Courthouse Square that will soon act as a hub for innovative projects. The location won’t immediately create new jobs, but officials said in the long run, it will develop new opportunities to attract and maintain the young, intellectual minds of energy and manufacturing.
